Human Quality Institute
People leave every encounter with more energy or with less. We make that difference visible.
The idea
Every encounter creates an effect. A conversation, a hotel stay, an evening at a restaurant: you come out of it larger or smaller, clearer or more exhausted, more connected or more distant. Exceptional hosts have always sensed this intuitively. So far it has neither been named nor measured. Our hypothesis: exceptional places will be distinguished less by amenities, processes or perfection than by the energy they create in people.
The one question
Every review on this map answers a single question: “Did you leave with more energy than you arrived with?” We do not measure whether a service was delivered well; operational excellence is taken for granted. We observe the state in which a person leaves a place compared with the state in which they arrived.
Terms
Human Quality
The ability of a person, team, organisation or place to create lasting positive energy in others through the quality of human encounters. Not a personality trait, not a leadership style, not service quality and not niceness: an encounter can be demanding and still have high Human Quality if it leaves clarity, courage or the capacity to act.
Human Energy
The state in which a person leaves an encounter. Not an emotion, but the sum of inner resources that make them more purposeful, capable and effective, in five dimensions: vitality, clarity & creation, inner stability, self-efficacy, connectedness & meaning.
Human Energy Gain (HEG)
The difference between the state on arrival and on departure. The directly observable effect of Human Quality, captured on a deliberately intuitive, non-linear scale from −10 to +50. The value is given by the assessor; the institute does not re-rate.
The scale
Zero is today's average. The intervals are deliberately unequal: the scale describes depth of memory, not satisfaction.
Human Quality Index (HQI)
Makes Human Energy Gain comparable across places. On the Founding Map it is the mean of all reviews of a place; with fewer than three reviews we show it greyed out because it is not yet meaningful.
Assessors
The reviews come from Certified Human Quality Assessors: experienced individuals with decades of experience and points of comparison at the highest level. They are neither paid nor named. Their observations are turned into a narrative text, checked by the institute and only then published.
The Founding Map
Instead of rating the whole market at once, we begin with a curated map: the first exceptional places of human quality. Every new review extends it. Light dots are places that are already part of the map but have no published review yet.
