It sees itself not as a grand hotel but as „une résidence parisienne intime où l'art se mêle élégamment au classicisme français", an intimate Parisian residence where art blends with French classicism. It rests on design and art and on its position on the Place Vendôme, and promises intimacy and service tailored to the individual guest. Staff remain anonymous in this self-image; their place is taken by named chefs, designers and partners.
