The restaurant claims authorship: since 1983 it has combined Chinese tradition, California ingredients and French technique and so „introduced the world to Asian fusion cuisine". Today it sees itself as „a culinary landmark, with rich history, personality and unsurpassed hospitality", more a monument than a place of the moment. It rests on cuisine and history; the host in its story is above all the Wolfgang Puck brand, while the people on site, two executive chefs and general manager Bella Lantsman, are named only with their roles.
